Valerie – Are you going to sit down and have a drink?

Nina – I only got 3 days emergency leave because I work part time

Valerie – Is that nice?  You don’t normally have that

Nina – Only reason we came up here was to take Grandad to the dentist

Valerie – He got a smile for Auntie Valerie?  He wants the chocolate triangle

Nina – Which one?

Valerie – The one with rice crispies.  That’s the one

Nina – It’s not as nice as rocky road is it?

Valerie – Never mind at least you get to keep your teeth after it

Nina – Can you remember how many days I got left?

Valerie – Not many if you keep eating all the cakes

Nina – At least my teeth are still my own

Valerie – That’s what they told you!  My mouth is full of implants.

Nina – You wouldn’t know.

Valerie – Exactly.  They don’t tell you they’re doing it.  You’re asleep for half of it if you can afford gas and air.

Nina – That’s the thing.  Look what happened to Grandad.

Valerie -He’s just a pile of gums.

Nina – That’s what a life of hot messed up rocky road can do.

Valerie – Rocky road truckers we call them.  Worth the wait to let the hot marshmallow cool.

Nina – Yep.  Definitely worth it in the long run.  Grandad’s evidence of that.

 

 

Add cherries to your rocky road to make them colourful!

• 100 g Unsalted butter
• 2 tbsp golden syrup
• 125 g Rich Tea Biscuits broken into small pieces
• 25 g Mini marshmallows
• 75 g glace cherries
• 175g chocolate
• Melt butter, chocolate and syrup in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Remove from the heat and add biscuits, marshmallows and cherries, stir well so everything is combined.
• Place small scoops of the mixture onto greased baking sheets.  Pop into the refrigerator for three hours.
